August 2025 - Future of Sports With NPA

Hello NPA Nation!

Welcome to another NPA blog. In this edition of our blog, we’d like to discuss some new technology and practices that go towards making a career in athletics more of a safe, accessible, and athlete-friendly environment through proper care, research, and safety considerations.

Here at NPA, we know that every success, every play, every legendary moment relies on the people who make it happen. That’s why we lead our company with the idea that the athlete should always come first — in terms of compensation, treatment, and above all, safety.

So today, let’s talk about some recent advances in sporting safety at both the collegiate and professional level — and assess why these changes are necessary in a quickly evolving world.

Football Helmets

One slightly controversial advance in athlete safety is the introduction of increased padding for football players. The NFL recently made allowances in their regulations allowing for this increased padding in a practice and game setting.

While the helmets may not be winning any fashion contests, they have been found to increase protection on an athlete’s head by up to 20%, lessening the risk of concussions and other head trauma-related injuries.

While some fans, players, and coaches think that this is an unnecessary addition, it is NPA’s position that any step towards increased athlete safety is a positive one.

MRI Technology

MRI and Imaging technology has taken huge leaps and bounds in terms of speed, detail, and injury recognition. With the aid of this new technology, players can be given a much better understanding of the extent of an injury in a much shorter time frame, allowing faster availability of treatment options and a head start on the road to recovery.

As an athlete, it’s obviously important that your body remain at the top of its game. With the advent of this new imaging technology, as well as a constantly improved understanding of athlete treatment, there truly has never been a safer time to be an athlete.

Training with Machine Learning

One thing that will never slow down is the advancement and continued progress of computing and digital power. Using advanced software and real-time AI analysis, athletes can receive in-the-moment feedback on their game.

This can include improving their posture, maintaining form, grip on the ball, and reflex training. In the competitive world of athletics, athletes need every advantage they can get to be the best version of themselves they can.

Luckily, we’re living in an age where understanding how you can maximize your performance can come at the press of a button.

NPA+

At the end of the day, the legendary play that your grandfather still talks about watching on his TV forty years ago comes down to one thing: the athlete who made it happen.

We’ve talked a lot in this blog about performance and safety in the field. However, one challenge that continues to loom over athletes today is getting in the room, meeting the people who can help you take your game to the next level.

That’s why we created Next Professional Athlete.

With NPA+, athletes can get in touch with scouts, coaches, trainers, and team reps in order to get their name out there and tell their story.

With the resources, support, and tips for success we provide, the sky is the limit for up-and-coming athletes who feel that their game is ready for the next step — and eventually, worthy of the history books.
